Privacy
How Blyde collects, uses, stores, and protects personal information.

Who this applies to
This Privacy Notice applies to information Blyde collects and processes when you use the Blyde website, account, and academic workspace. Blyde is designed for university and other higher-education use. By using Blyde, you acknowledge that your information may be processed as described here.
Information we collect
Depending on how you use Blyde, we may collect your account and contact information, content you upload or enter, prompts and interactions, generated results, Study materials and progress, assignment and reference data, usage and entitlement information, and technical information needed to operate and secure the service. Technical information can include browser, device, IP-address, authentication, security, error, and operational information.
How we use information
We use information to create and secure accounts, provide the features you request, process and save your workspace, generate requested academic assistance, maintain usage and subscription entitlements, prevent abuse, troubleshoot failures, protect the service, and meet legal or regulatory obligations.
Academic content and AI processing
When a feature requires external processing, relevant content may be sent to service providers that support Blyde's AI, search, document-processing, hosting, security, or other requested functionality. Those providers may process information outside South Africa. We do not use your academic content for advertising or sell your personal information.
Documents and visual processing
Uploaded documents may be processed to extract text and other useful content for Study and other requested features. Some pages may also be temporarily rendered or processed to recover visual information. Temporary processing data is not intended to become a separate source record in your workspace.
Sharing and service providers
We may share information with service providers that process it on our behalf, with payment providers when you purchase a paid plan, when required to protect the service or comply with law, or with another party where you direct or authorise the disclosure. Service providers receive information needed for their role rather than unrestricted access to your account.
Payments
If you purchase Blyde Plus, payment information is handled through the payment processor's checkout and systems. Blyde receives the transaction and subscription information needed to confirm and manage your plan; Blyde does not ask you to send card numbers, security codes, passwords, or other payment credentials through support.
Storage and retention
We retain information for as long as reasonably necessary to provide the service, maintain security and operational records, meet legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce these terms. Deleting an account removes information through the account-deletion process, but copies may remain for a limited period in backups, security records, or where retention is required by law.
Security
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures intended to protect information against unauthorised access, loss, misuse, or disclosure. No internet service can guarantee absolute security.
Your rights and choices
Subject to applicable law, you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, and may object to or withdraw consent from processing where the law gives you that right. You can manage available account, export, and deletion controls from Account settings. Requests may need to be verified before we act on them.
Direct marketing
We will only send electronic direct marketing where permitted by applicable law and will provide a way to stop those communications. Service messages about your account, security, transactions, or requested support are not the same as promotional marketing.
Privacy requests and complaints
For privacy requests or questions, contact support@blyde.app. If you are in South Africa and believe your privacy rights have not been resolved, you may also contact the Information Regulator of South Africa through its official complaint channels.
Changes to this notice
We may update this notice when our processing practices or legal obligations change. The current version will always be available on this page.
